Each tablet contains chloropyramine hydrochloride 25 mg, commonly sold in boxes of 20 tablets under brand names such as Avapena® (by Sandoz/Novartis), Schoen, Marca del Ahorro, Birtrix, or generic versions. It is readily available at major Mexican pharmacies like Farmacias del Ahorro, Farmacias Similares, Farmacias Guadalajara, Sanborns, and others.Main Indications:
- Temporary relief of symptoms of allergic rhinitis and hay fever (sneezing, itchy nose and eyes, nasal congestion, watery eyes).
- Allergic conjunctivitis.
- Urticaria (hives), acute skin pruritus (itching), and allergic skin reactions (including angioedema and acute eczema).
- Allergies to food, medications, or insect bites/stings.
- Mild to moderate allergic reactions.
- Adults: 1 tablet (25 mg) 2 to 3 times daily, as needed and based on individual response.
- Children 5 to 10 years: 1 to 2 tablets per day (divided doses).
- Children over 10 years: 2 to 3 tablets per day. Do not give to children under 5 years old. Dosage should be individualized and preferably supervised by a physician. Take orally with water; do not exceed the recommended dose.
- May cause drowsiness, so use caution when driving or operating machinery.
- Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- Avoid in cases of hypersensitivity to chloropyramine, severe hypertension, cardiac arrhythmias, glaucoma, or prostate problems.
- In Mexico, it is often available without a prescription (though some presentations may require one — check local regulations).
- Store at temperatures not exceeding 30°C, in a dry place, out of reach of children.
